At Internationality, we are all about globalizing your life, which inherently means stepping up in the global economy.
Some people fear globalization is a ruse meant to take jobs, but others see it as a moment to level up!
We’re excited to see this champion mentality, whether it’s in Silicon Valley or Bangalore- and especially when it’s in Africa. That’s why we find the story and mission behind Andela are so exciting and inspiring.
Andela is like an educational accelerator for the tech industry in Africa. It recruits high-potential youth in Africa, trains them in software development and connects them with employers globally.[2] With the training and mentorship from Andela, youth are prepared to work as full-time developers, and work remotely for technology companies, fill the local labor force gaps in Africa’s IT ecosystem (Nigeria and Kenya at this point) or launch their own ventures. The entity already received funding from Mark Zuckerberg, has raised over $24 MM USD and counts clients, such as Microsoft, 2U and Udacity.
It’s a double bottom line: growing local economies in Africa, empowering youth, enabling top global corporations to reduce IT costs.
Yes, it’s an inspiring story and awesome business model. And for those of us, doing business in Africa, an attractive option for IT services in Africa, rather than going the usual routes.
